Stanley Palmer comes to town. He is showing 6 new paintings and prints also, at The Central through the summer of 2018. Views of Akaroa, Otago Peninsula and Hauraki are the subjects of these oils on canvas – a rare chance in Christchurch to enjoy the colour and brush marks of one of New Zealand’s most loved senior artists.
Company includes some wonderfully unruly piwakawaka/fantails by Hannah Kidd; and for the first time in many years, some very beautiful little stoneworks by John Edgar – a master of cut and ground stone. In his small pieces the precision of geometry meets the splendor of polished form.
